Who we are
HearCandy helps you enjoy podcasts while automatically skipping ads.

We designed HearCandy to respect your privacy and collect as little personal data as possible.
What we do not collect
- No signup or account required
- We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or address
- We do not record your voice
- We do not access your photos or contacts
- We do not sell personal information
What we collect
Device identifier
When you first use the app, we create a random device ID.
This helps us:
- Track podcast progress on your device
- Personalize listening suggestions
- Improve ad-skip performance
The ID does not identify you personally.
Listening activity
To keep your place and enhance skip accuracy, we store:
- Episode IDs you listen to
- How long you listened
- Where you skip or rewind
We never store the audio you listen to.
Crowdsourced skip contributions
If you help mark an ad segment, we store:
- Anonymous device ID
- Episode ID
- Skip timestamps
This improves skipping for all users.
Data from podcast services
Podcast information and audio come from third-party podcast sources, including ListenNotes.

Audio plays directly from podcast publishers — we do not host or store podcast audio.
Analytics and crash reports
We may use anonymous analytics to fix bugs and improve performance. This data does not identify you.
Where data is stored
Data is stored securely in our cloud database through Supabase, a privacy-focused provider using encryption.
How long we keep data
We keep listening and skip data only while needed to provide the service. Data may be removed if you delete the app or request deletion.
Your privacy rights
If you would like a copy of your data or want it deleted, you may send us your Device ID (found in app settings) and request:
- A copy of the data linked to that ID
- Full deletion of associated data

Children’s privacy
HearCandy is not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time.
Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
